Who We Are

Who we are

We are a church affiliated with the Assemblies of God (A. O. G.) or A. C. C. (Australian Christian Churches in Australia. Our mother church was the first A. O. G. Church on the Gold Coast started by our co-founders of New Life Worship Centre, Pastor Tom and Violet Whiting.  Our senior Pastor, Phil Whiting, was the one of three that held the first A. O. G. church service on the Gold Coast along with Pastor Tom and Violet Whiting.  New Life Worship Centre campus was started out of the first A. O. G. church, Gold Coast Evangelistic Centre.  As affiliated with the Assemblies of God, we do not claim to be the only true church. What we are, we are Bible loving evangelical Christians who emphasise afresh the teachings of Scripture.  We are a part of a great world-wide fellowship whose message is heard in every land and every major nation.

What we believe

Our beliefs are fundamental and evangelical, our sole textbook being the bible, which is the only infallible and authoritative Word of God.  (2 Tim, 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 19:21; Jn. 5:39; Matt 24:35).

We believe there is only one God, the Creator, eternally existing in three persons, God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.  (Gen. 1:1; Isa. 43:10, 11; 2 Cor. 13-14; Matt 28:19; Jn 14:16, 17)

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God.

We believe in his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father (Jn.1:1-3; Heb. 1-8; Matt. 1:23; Jn. 14:30; Jn 2:11; Isa. 53:4-6; Matt. 28:6; Acts 1:9).

We believe in the second coming of Christ (Jn, 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:15-17).

We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit, with his fruit and gifts abiding in the church (1 Cor. 6:12 & 14; 1 Cor. 1:7).

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for all believers with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Acts 1:1-8; 2:1-38; 8:15-19; 10:44-47; 19:1-7).

We believe in the spiritually lost condition of men (Gen. 3; Jn. 3:17,18,36).

We believe in the essential need for the new birth by faith in Jesus Christ (Jn. 3:3,16).  That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ (1 Pet. 1:18,19).

We believe in the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper, and baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for all believers (1 Cor. 11:23-26; Matt. 26:26-28; Mk. 16:16; Matt. 28:19).

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life (Gal. 5:16; Jn. 14:16,17).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life, and the other to everlasting damnation (Jn. 3:36; Jn. 5:28,29; 2 Thess. 1:8,9; Rev 20:11-15).

In fact we can humbly say we believe all that the Old and New Testaments teach and we ever seek to live a faithful, fruitful and fervent Christian life.

Our Emphasis

We emphasise a victorious Spirit-filled life for all believers, teaching that a Pentecostal experience is repeatable today in the life of the Christian church.

Our Name

The name Assemblies of God was the name given to all New Testament churches.  The word ‘church’ is best translated ‘assembly’, as in the Amplified version of the Bible.

Founder

While Christians of our faith can be found all over the world, we are unable to attribute our movement to any Christian leader.  We owe our beginning to God alone.

The Assemblies of God came into being at the turn of the century through a simultaneous spiritual awakening and Holy Ghost outpouring among many Holiness Groups in England, America and the Continent.
